Western New York gets a massive dose of rap, rock and pop-punk tonight as MGK brings the Lost Americana Tour to Darien Lake Amphitheater.
Over the course of his career, MGK has never been particularly interested in staying in one lane. From the rapid-fire hip-hop of his early years to the guitar-driven pop-punk explosion of Tickets to My Downfall and Mainstream Sellout, he has built a catalog that crosses genres — and a live show designed to do the same.
Tonight, that catalog comes to Darien Lake.
The tour follows the release of Lost Americana, but fans can expect a set that reaches much further back through MGK’s career. Songs like “bloody valentine,” “my ex’s best friend,” “I Think I’m OKAY,” “papercuts” and “Wild Boy”have all become staples of an increasingly unpredictable live show.
But MGK isn’t coming to Western New York alone.
Wiz Khalifa joins the tour tonight, bringing more than a decade of hits and one of the most recognizable catalogs in modern hip-hop. From “Black and Yellow” and “We Dem Boyz” to “Young, Wild & Free” and “See You Again,” Wiz gives this tour a legitimate co-headliner feel.
And with the history between MGK and Wiz, don’t be surprised if the two worlds collide before the night is over.
Opening the night is DE’WAYNE, whose blend of alternative rock, punk and hip-hop makes him a natural fit for a bill that refuses to stick to a single genre.
