The Buffalo Bills have until 6 p.m. on Sunday, August 30 to trim their roster down to 53 players.

Bills’ first wave of cuts include punter and punt returner
Buffalo began trimming its roster down on Saturday.
ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler reported that the Bills are releasing Mecole Hardman Jr. and Netflix’s Tom Pelissero reported that Mitch Wishnowsky is being released by the team.
Both moves were expected.
Hardman was in the running for the team’s punt return job, but Buffalo has internal options such as Ray Davis, Keon Coleman and Khalil Shakir. Hardman did not do enough as a receiver this summer to justify a roster spot. In the team’s final two preseason games, Hardman had three drops.
Wishnowsky joined Buffalo last season and fared well as the team’s punter. He faced an uphill battle for the job, however, after the team drafted Tommy Doman Jr. in the 2026 NFL Draft. Wishnowsky sealed his fate with a 19-yard punt against the Steelers in the preseason finale.
