Tonight, Darien Lake is turning the clock back to an era when R&B and hip-hop ruled MTV, radio and just about every mixtape you owned.
TLC and Salt-N-Pepa, joined by En Vogue, bring the It’s Iconic Tour to Darien Lake Amphitheater tonight for a stacked celebration of three groups that helped shape the sound — and style — of an entire generation.
And calling this lineup “iconic” might actually be underselling it.
TLC arrives with one of the most recognizable catalogs in R&B history.
From “Waterfalls” and “Creep” to “No Scrubs” and “Unpretty,” TLC’s music became inseparable from the ’90s while CrazySexyCool helped turn the group into global superstars.
Then there’s Salt-N-Pepa.
Long before female rappers regularly occupied the top of the charts, Salt-N-Pepa were kicking down doors.
“Push It.” “Shoop.” “Whatta Man.” “Let’s Talk About Sex.”
Salt and Pepa helped change what women could look and sound like in hip-hop, becoming one of the genre’s most important and successful groups in the process.
And the nostalgia doesn’t stop there.
En Vogue brings the harmonies and another collection of songs practically built for a massive crowd to sing along with — including “Hold On,” “Free Your Mind,” “My Lovin’ (You’re Never Gonna Get It)” and “Don’t Let Go (Love).”
